New Do you get DW-TV (Deutsche Welle)?
Then here's a recommendation: [link|http://www.dwelle.de/TVP/BASIS/DWTV/TVD/TVC/DDW?W%3DPROGID%3D43813|Tonight's "Destination Germany"]. Two out of three topics look promising: OK, I don't much care about "Germany's Castle Hotels", but "Street Veterans" is a passion of mine (and perhaps more here), and "University Town Tübingen" is Home Sweet Home -- yes, only to me... But perhaps a future travel destination for someone else?

(From the Ishouldaknownit Dept: Apparently the Fuchsia is named after a botanist, presumably a Herr (sorry, Professor Dr Dr...) Fuchs, from Tbingen.)

You'll have to translate to your time zone; the times at the bottom of the page are UTC, I think.

[link|http://www.sbs.com.au|SBS] show The Journal daily I think and so does [link|http://www.channel31.org|Channel 31] here in Sydney. It can be very interesting.

New Re: Do you get DW-TV (Deutsche Welle)?
Well, we get it here in Charlotte, North Carolina but part time. It is on the local Community College cable station which broadcast some classes. DW-TV is usually in German or English. Some of the time DW-TV is actually done in Spanish here. The newspaper listing says that "Destination" is on at 12:30AM, local time. If I can stay awake, I'll try to watch it.

Incidentally, Charlotte is named after a native German - Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg, who became Queen Charlotte, wife of English [link|http://www.royal.gov.uk/history/george.htm|King George III]. The county in which the City of Charlotte is located, and mostly comsumes, is called Mecklenburg County.

Tbingen is my daughter's German "home town". While in college, she was a foreign exchange student during her Junior year and attended the (Eberhard Karls) university in Tbingen.

New I caught it.
12:30 AM to 1:00 AM was indeed the show you cite.

Street Veterans are what we call antique cars. Quite a variety there, including, a surprising to me, Cadillac convertible. CRC, you would enjoy the museum in Indianapolis near the raceway. I was there some 10 years ago. They had some pretty old racing vehicles.

Tbingen was interesting to me. My wife and I drove through there around the time of the Gulf War. As I recall there were student protests and banners that said "Blood for Oil?" (in German). We didn't see too much at the time and drove on. Maybe next time we'll look around.
