New That looks like a complete set
I'll be downloading until x-mas with those. I want a minimal bootstrap cd for doing a netinst. I found this:

looking at the pgi-woody-i386.iso

I'm assuming I can get this, burn it onto a cd from my OS X box, pop it into the server's CD, reboot, and all will be nifty?

New You only really need the first one.
But yes, the PGI thing is what you want.

New debootstrap fails every time
Tried multiple mirrors including the default - no explanation is offered. Or, rather many expanations offered including, http proxy config (don't need one), mirror being updated, dirty CD, phase of moon wrong.

Trying the disk 1 from the archive peter sent me....

Well, the place was crowded. We were packed in like sardines. They were all there to listen to the Big Band sounds of Tommy Dorsal. What sole! Tommy was rocking the place with a very popular tuna: "Sal-mon Chanted Evening," and the stage was surrounded by screaming groupers; probably there to see the bass player.
