They're getting Reg-like in their conclusions
There you have it. A hundred million funnelled from Microsoft to SCO, of which they have $68.5 million left. Their 10Qs reveal that every other line of cash inflow is statistical noise by comparison. The brave new SCOsource business model is now clear: sue your customers, shill for Microsoft, kite your stock, and pray you stay out of jail.

Implicitly condoning stupidity since 2001.

SCO admits it's legitimate.

... but Andrew at TheReg says ESR goes too far...
[link|http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/36066.html|Here]: Facing fairly incriminating evidence on the charge that both parties want to wipe out free software development, Microsoft walked free on the lesser charge of funding SCO's specific legal campaign against Linux, under the Scottish verdict of "not proven".
[...]
[A poster on Groklaw writes:]"From this email, if we take it at face value, a big deal was in the works that could have stabilized SCO's financials for the next four quarters. The deal has not materialized."
If the Beast was truly behind the deal from the start, wouldn't it prime the pump just when SCO needs the money the most, i.e., round about now? The alternative view, that Microsoft may have encouraged speculators to have a go, but that BayStar now views the proposition as somewhat less attractive, certainly seems more rational. The conspiracy case simply isn't proven.
[...] Oh well. Cheers, Scott.

And the story spreads wider to the business community.
[link|http://yahoo.businessweek.com/technology/content/mar2004/tc20040311_8915_tc119.htm|Business Week]. SCO's Suit: A Match Made in Redmond? Just as the legal battle over Linux was about to become even more expensive, Microsoft suggested that a hedge fund invest in the outfit. Nothing really new here, but it's good to spread the word about Microsoft.
