Its got a *LOT* of problems.
Massive ones.
Its got a lot of downtime, (I presume servers on the backend aren't talking to each other).
Person on my list in South Africa won't show up as online, I can't message her. She can message me, then I can reply. I created a new ID - *it* works fine.
Repeated emails to the Yahoo! "Help Desk" result in the same/similar inane, unuseful responses. No matter how explict I am, they don't read it. (requests for a supervisor have gone unanswered).
The client is buggy, as well. The Linux version, well, they shipped one, I'll give 'em that. .93. And apparently no dev work going on it after that. Its been out 9? Months, and no upgrades. (OK, at least it doesn't have those friggen ads all over the place). Windows upgrades I've found introduce gobs of bugs, in the promise of some new features (shades of Ezboard). And ads. ads ads ads.
Microsoft's buggy track record, security problems and their BSOD (blue screen of death) problem
I don't see that. Just like their DNS outage didn't seem to scare people away from AD like it should have. People are used to MS problems, MSN problems are just normal by now.
But nah, don't laud Yahoo! IM... they don't deserve it. They just have rolling problems, not total stoppages.
