This may not be of much help, but there exist pilot-dedupe which claims to be able to strip dupicate records from Palm OS databases. It's part of the pilot-link set of tools for Un*x. I've never used it before, so I can provide any testimonials on its efficacy.

BTW, a hard reset is not needed as syncing after deleting the duplicates on the desktop should cause the duplicates on the Clie to be removed as well.

I did a lot of research and searching since I last posted and found this:

Costs $8USD to register online, $3USD extra to do it offline. Many sites had reviews on it that said it was the best dupe manager for PalmOS. I hope it helps other PalmOS users who read this message and suffer from dupes.
