It is named Cidaemon and it takes over 80% of Windows XP Pro CPU cycles and I have to kill it to avoid sluggisness. Everytime I kill it, eventually it comes back.
A Google search explains it as some sort of Microsoft indexing service. I had my indexing service disabled in services. What is this thing, what does it do, and why does it need 80% or more of the system CPU cycles? Why is it running when Microsoft indexing services is set to be disabled? Is it an imposter program pretending to be MS indexing services? Virus scan, Trojan scan, and Spyware scans turn up nothing.
Edit: Just checked, even thought I remembering disabling it, it was switched back on in services. It seems I have turned off this service before and it keeps on getting enabled again. Yes I am selecting properties and choosing "disabled" instead of stopping the service.
