Setting aside the guilty till proven innocent stance of the US gov't, this statement seems to imply that "our" thinking Arar is a terorist makes it OK to have him tortured.

Or coures, were the story ever to hit the US, me thinks the implication might be too subtle for the masses to pick up on... or, worse yet, they'd simply agree.
