New Python GUIs
How do these work?

What GUI's do they expose? Is it platform independent or are there just hooks into platform UI layers built into the various builds and you just use the native calls?

"I believe that many of the systems we build today in Java would be better built in Smalltalk and Gemstone."

New I use wxPython
[link|http://www.wxpython.org/|http://www.wxpython.org/]

It's based on [link|http://wxwindows.org/|wxWindows].

Cross-platform:
wxWindows allows you to target Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT/2K/XP, Linux/Unix with the GTK+ toolkit (or plain X11, or Motif), and MacOS.

[link|http://wxwindows.org/develop2.htm|Cross-language]. There are bindings for at least 10 languages that I counted quickly on that page.
