On his program (NPR) Garrison Keillor (sp?) sang a ballad he'd written. Written from perspective of someone who was there. I can't recapture the several verses, but one sample is,

..Now every time I fall asleep, I'm haunted by that view,

(refrain:)

The firemen climbing up the stairs;
While we were running down ..



(On the scale from mawkish sentimentality to Anthems, I deemed his simple delivery and the many verses - quite nearer the latter. So did the audience.)
