After the DOJ is done with Microsoft, will grants be given out to Microsoft competitors? Much like Sprint and MCI got billions from the government because they competed with AT&T, will this happen to companies that compete with Microsoft?

I think that creating a company to take on Microsoft would be a challenging idea. The company in question must work with other companies that are competitive to Microsoft and bundle solutions based on those alternative products. Also said company must learn how to migrate from Microsoft technologies to other platforms. Maybe SQL Server to Oracle or Sybase or even PostgreSQL. Also this company must create applications for alternative platforms when no equivelent exists. Like making business programs for Linux, and then finding a way to import data from the old software into the new ones. Maybe form a foundation with the other companies to share ideas and API calls to take on Microsoft?

Feasable, or impossible? I am not talking about killing Microsoft, rather, taking away some of their marketshare. The hard part will be getting the competitors to work together rather than fight each other.
