Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I switched to Apple's X11 in Jaguar
Previous to that I was using [link|http://www.xdarwin.org/|XDarwin] from [link|http://fink.sourceforge.net|fink].

I did have some conflicts at first but eventually resolved them.

I think it was worth the switch, though. Apple's server is fast and (so far) stable and integrates pretty nicely with Quartz.

Re: Other Panther events...

I got my first kernel panic since the Public Beta a couple of days ago. I was fiddling with getting my iPod synced and suddenly a translucent message box popped up in the middle of my screen and advised me to reboot.

But here's the thing-- It was so understated and tasteful that at first that I didn't realize that it was an error message, much less a full blown kernel panic. Quite a change from the old days where black and white text would spew all over your desktop and everything would just lock up.

New Had my first Jaguar Kernel Panic the other day too
Though it serves me right, really.

I was SMB'ing to a share on a W2K box, and changing the IP address on said W2K box at about the same time. Duh! I can understand the iBook getting upset at such a thing.

But yeah, the error message is much prettier than a bluescreen, isn't it? :)

New Oh, it's gorgeous
Tasteful, translucent, understated...it was the most charming, pleasant system crash I've ever experienced.

Which is saying something.

I promise you that if I am compelled to turn to the Dark Side on this issue you will come to yearn for the suave ripostes of CRConrad.
