Amen to that.
We've started planning meals by the week here. We go shopping on Sunday, purchase food for those meals, and that's about it. There's always popcorn for us and ice cream for the kids, but honestly there's precious little junk food around the house. Just the way I like it.
This week's menu:
Sunday: [link|http://www.recipesource.com/main-dishes/burgers/01/rec0142.html|Home made hamburgers], fries, salad
Monday: [link|http://www.recipesource.com/fgv/vegetables/potatoes/01/rec0153.html|Potatoes au gratin + ham], spinach salad
Tuesday: [link|http://www.recipesource.com/soups/soups/05/rec0584.html|Home made chicken soup], fresh bread
Wednesday: [link|http://www.recipesource.com/ethnic/europe/italian/baked-ziti1.html|Baked ziti]
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: [link|http://www.recipesource.com/main-dishes/meat/poultry/chicken/04/rec0427.html|Chicken cordon bleu], peas and carrots
Saturday: I forget what we're having.
All meals home-made, most in under 45 minutes. And I guarantee they're better than what you can find at most restaurants.
Edit: Linked to recipes from [link|http://www.recipesource.com|Recipe Source]. Note that I rarely use recipes, but these are at least similar to what I throw together.
