Also, you fucking clueless twat, you gibber:
It says right there that the effort to port the Delphi code to Kylix would be almost like a re-write.This is apparently prompted by [emphasis added]:
I had originally hoped to port TWGS to Linux with Kylix, but was disappointed by the portability of legacy Delphi applications. The amount of effort needed for the Kylix port would be significantly less than a rewrite (which any port to another language would require), but the result would be yet another stage in the life of what I refer to as the Frankencode that is TWv3. The last DOS version of TWv3 had legacy support of DOS 5 and Desqview, and TWv3 for TWGS was built on top of that. The world is a very different place today than it was when TW was originally written, and it suffers from kluge on top of kluge.NO, you fucking idiot, "significantly less than a rewrite" does NOT mean "almost like a re-write" !!!
The key word to explain his troubles was "legacy" -- and NOT in the sense of all Delphi applications being "legacy Delphi applications", but because this was a REALLY OLD application, with a REAL _legacy_ of cruft and kludges: "Frankencode" ... DOS 5 ... Desqview ... and apparently, as you add (sorry I couldn't verify this independently), "BASIC port to Turbo Pascal". THAT is what makes him want to re-write, not any real problem with porting *clean* Delphi apps to Kylix; he fucking well SAYS SO!
