New Haven't googled yet, but
I heard on the radio this morning that the Mirage was very upset, wondering how they'll replace the lost (approximately) $45 million in annual revenue and (approximately) $5 million in annual net income that Siegfried and Roy's show produced.

Also unconfirmed is word that their manager terminated all 260 employees of the show, handing them plastic garbage bags and telling them "to pack up their personal stuff and get out". No word on any type of severance being offered yet.

Mentioned by announcers on another station was that the tiger in question was on stage for its very first time, was distracted by someone in the audience, and that Roy placed himself in between the tiger and its line of sight towards the person in the audience.

New Re: Haven't googled yet, but

The show booked a 1500 seat theater at ~$100/seat. That's $150,000 per show on a full house, presumably 300 shows a year. But a lot of high-priced asses in seats is lucrative. Granted, the staff for the show is large (260 crew for a two-man act), but you're still talking a lot of money.

The "first time in show" patter was just part of the act from what I've read. Nothing I've seen has suggested that the cat was actually debuting.
