I picked up the DVD collection
Comedy gold.
Lord Percy: My Lord! I have waited on your return! [hugs Blackadder] Edmund Blackadder: And thank God you did Percy, for I was just thinking to myself: 'My God, I die in 12 hours, what I really need now is a hug from a complete prat.'

Yeah.. bastridges..
Ours Is a Sorry Lot - there IS no 'humour' on our Corp Tee Vee anymore, just the toilet jokes for the mouth breathers on SNL, and some occasional genuine stuff on NPR as-in 'radio'. :(
(Cunservative-types laugh only about great scams they perpetrated, over golf or other simple mindless perversions)
But remember.. a couple decades back - we HAD a couple Great Ones! killed off not by audience disapproval but via Corp Ad Suited disapproval (and despite legions of harpies naysaying the Shrub-like quack quackery floated to explain the atrocities.)
And yeah.. we know what They Say about people (or nations) with no sense of humour... next step is National SocialFundamentalism.
Like Persia a while back... Keep the civilization alive for us, til the revolution gets going - OK?

Have you seen "Scrubs"?
It's on NBC, on evenings when they're not having "Night of a Thousand Friends!". :-(
I think it's a fine show. It has an intelligence about it rather like the late, terribly lamented, "Freaks and Geeks" and it's very funny. Plus, it usually has a moral at the end - something quite rare for sitcoms these days.
Cheers, Scott.

Scrubs is one of the best sitcoms to come out in years
imho. Part of what makes it great is that it doesn't even try to pretend it could really happen.
The shows with the "men at work" guy were great:)

Heard of that one
don't get it here.
Perhaps I should have qualified... one of the best US sitcoms to come out in years.
'course, Canadians still rule at sketch comedy.

Well, I'm not in T.O.
and if you ever get the chance to check out "This Hour Has 22 Minutes", "The Red Green Show", and let's not forget those US sketch shows that are run and/or written by Canadians like SNL and The Daily Show, plus past classics like Kids in the Hall, I think you'll agree that we're all over sketch comedy.
You can also find great sketch comedy on the radio here too: Double Exposure is a classic, and Royal Canadian Air Farce (also available on TV) is also classic, albeit becoming a bit stodgy in their old age.
I think you'd probably find Kingston to be beautiful too, though a bit small.
Edit: I nearly forgot Trailer Park Boys; not strictly sketch, but damned funny. The Pr0n episode is a classic.

Any word on The Frantics?
I heard that their only album from the 1980s is due to be released on CD. Their skits are regular staples on The Dr. Demento Show.

The Frantics
The Frantics were the Kids In The Hall, with a few personnel changes to make KITH.
Get "Boot To The Head"; it's fucking hilarious. It's already out on CD, AFAIK, but may not be in the catalog anymore.
"I once was a hunter, brave and virile and free... but I'd rather die than look you in the eye 'cause you scare the shit out of me
You scare the shit out of me You scare the shit out of me..."
I shot Bambi's Mother is another classic. Architecture Today "with Vince Neil" was hilarious ('So tell me, what was the inspiration for the design of the CN Tower' 'A big dick' 'P-p-pardon?' 'You know, a wang so big even Rochester could get off on it?' ... 'I wanted to call it the se-MEN tower but they wouldn't let me!')
Gotta get that album on mp3 someday...

That would be Ti Kwon Leap. :-)
Yah - that's hilarious. A friend at a previous job gave me an MP3 of it.

That was one of the pieces on the record
but the actual record was called Boot to the Head. I believe they were the last two pieces on Side 1 IIRC: Ti Kwon Leep (skit) followed by Boot To The Head (musical number).
The waiter that forgot your lunch Give them a boot to the head
Boot to the head! Nyah nyah Boot to the head! Nyah nyah Boot to the head! Nyah nyah Give them a boot to the head!
Good stuff all 'round.
