New Unwise Microwave Oven Experiments

Years ago I was living with roommates, and while working in the kitchen I noticed that the fluorescent light over the sink was about 8 inches long. A light went on in my brain ;) because I'd always wondered what would happen if a fluorescent tube was placed in a microwave oven. In theory the RF energy should have enough voltage to ignite the mercury vapor into a plasma, and the lamp should light. But standard ovens put out at least 500 watts, so the tiny fluorescent tube should light quite brightly, to say the least. I'd never before encountered a fluorescent tube which was short enough to fit in an oven. So, I pulled out the tube, stuck it in the oven, said "THEY'RE HEEEEEERE!" , and punched the ON switch. Sure enough, the kitchen was lit up by a blue-white blaze of light coming from the front of the microwave oven. I only let it run for about 1 second, but this was enough to heat the fluorescent tube so it was too hot to touch.

But wait; there's more...

New {chortle} Good Find!
Mine:

I had bought this WW-II "Radiation Survey Meter" - not a Geiger-Mueller tube but a simple ion chamber device with suitable amp for the small voltages generated. It was cheap, it worked (had sources available to test at the unreasonably high = Lethal levels this sucker was made for); it was Yellow ... and of no conceivable Use:

(Had you Needed to measure such levels -?- might's well bend over & kiss ass goodbye; a FACT which remains TRUE in '03, should Shrub ever get the chance to start trading his New Improved bunker-buster Nukes on one of his next invasions. Natch you will never hear such matters discussed on Our meeja '03. The cabal and its Theocratic Strategists much prefer getting ready for The Rapture. Actively.)

So I put it in the microwave, switched ON, of course. In the first *second* the meter slammed full-scale; there was a tad of smoke - and the ugly yellow thing was (internal electronic) Toast. Unclear the mechanism of the movement of the mere -likely 50A- meter movement:

Did the e-field induce humongous power directly into the d'Arsonval coil itself? {my bet} and/or also short all the transistor junctions to apply full battery power to same? I was uncurious enough not to try a second "BS - PR about Radiation Safety for the Masses" 'instrument' - next time with the meter disconnected from the circuitry.

Ah yes.. wave ovens: laboratory at your fingertips!
