WRONG
This is the only time I can remember you being completely wrong.
The secret is to know what you want. I have a piano and a motorcycle that I am completely happy with - nothing could sway me. I want a Meade LX200 12" telescope, and I will be ecstatic with that as well.
I want a waitress with a heart of gold. No telling when that will show up.

I was thinking the same thing today
I bought a 10 GB iPod just last week to replace my 5GB (rev A) iPod. (The scrollwheel had gone all wonkey and stopped working.)
The good news is that I can still use the old iPod as a portable HD.

How's the battery hold up over time?
Doesn't look like there's an easy way to swap it out.

You're trying to keep up with your own joneses. Know what you want, and be happy.
Of course, you no doubt have a fine house, a secure job, a wonderful wife and kids, a fast and clean and dentless car, an extended family you can enjoy, lots of free time, etc. etc. etc. and you bitch about something like this.
I have none of the above, and am happy as a lark.
