New Bride's mom says she hit stripper

A stripper who arrived at a bachelorette party in Crystal Lake last summer was confronted by angry bridesmaids who had paid $110 for a blond but got a dark-haired replacement who apparently left his music and G-string at home.

"All he did was dance for a few minutes, then drop his pants," said Kerry Parisi, a guest at the party last summer. "I thought, `You got to be kidding me. This isn't what we paid for. This isn't entertainment.'"

Not paying attention to the guest of honor did not go over well either. The scene deteriorated fast at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake on July 13, 2002. According to the police report, the bride, her mother and a bridesmaid attacked the stripper, who said he was struck on the head with a beer bottle.

On Monday, the bride's mother, Jacqueline McMahon, 52, of Wheeling pleaded guilty in McHenry County Circuit Court to simple battery, admitting she attacked the dancer because he was late and didn't pay enough attention to her daughter.

"Well, let's just say they were disappointed," said David McArdle, the attorney who represented the women.

McMahon was ordered to pay the stripper's $2,500 hospital bill. She was also given 30 days' probation.

Charges against her daughter and a bridesmaid were dismissed.

"Since the mother was the primary aggressor, according to the stripper, she was the one who took responsibility for the actions and is paying restitution," said Assistant State's Atty. Elizabeth Vonau. "The mother of the bride grabbed him by his shirt collar and ripped his shirt and scratched his chest."

None of the women could be reached for comment.

The bride, Carrie Tyszko, 22, said in a statement Tuesday: "The guilty plea was simply the result of a plea bargain to end this fiasco."

The stripper, Gus Gamuranes, 28, of Morton Grove said Tuesday: "I'm sorry, I have nothing to say about it. I was a victim."

According to authorities, the bridesmaids contracted for a stripper with One of a Kind Entertainment Agency, a Chicago business that provides male and female exotic dancers. A person answering the agency's telephone Tuesday declined to comment.

When Gamuranes arrived, bridesmaids confronted him in the hotel lobby, police said. Gamuranes told police he was unaware they had requested a specific performer or that he was late.

Parisi said they had waited 90 minutes for the stripper, who was supposed to be blond and dressed in an exotic costume.

"It was so bizarre because this guy walks in, he's dark-haired and he says he's the stripper and there's no boom box," Parisi said. "He's got a T-shirt on and jeans, then he comes up to the room and uses the room radio for his dance."

After Gamuranes finished dancing, the women said they asked him to leave and refused to pay him. Gamuranes allegedly muttered a vulgarity at the women, police said.

"This now infuriated [the bride] to the point that she, along with a number of women attending the party, went after him," the officer wrote in the report.

Police said a bridesmaid hit Gamuranes on the head with a beer bottle and the bride and her mother began punching him in the face and on his body. Gamuranes was taken by ambulance to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, where he was treated for minor scratches and bruises and had a CT scan.

New Agree and disagree
Too many newspaper stories become unavailable within 24 hours, so while an excerpt should entice you to go to the full article, if you don't do so immediately, you can't do it from the next day forward. So if a community member is on vacation for several days, comes here, reads the excerpt and clicks on the link, the odds are that they won't be able to read the full story.

New No
It's not a matter of opinion. Cut'n'paste of entire stories is copyright violation, and could get us shut down.

New I didn't say that it was a matter of opinion
I was pointing out the temporary nature of information of the Internet. What good is trying to make a point or pass on information when the source, the foundation of your viewpoint, disappears within 24 hours?

For example, good luck trying to find a detailed story of President Shrub's ducking out of his Texas Air Guard's last year of service, instead of fulfilling his obligation. Should be an easy find on the Internet, right? That's a story worth reading again and again - too bad it's no longer available.

And for the record, I did not disagree with Scott and will abide by his request for all of the right reasons.

New Shrub's Texas Air days.
Although I've been guilty of posting too-large bits of stories, I try to only post excerpts. If a story disappears into the ether, well someone really interested will have to pay for the archive or search the hard copy.

The vast majority of news stories are cached at news.google.com (.e.g. [link|http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&edition=us&q=Bush+Texas+Air+National+Guard&btnG=Search+News|Bush Texas Air National Guard] search) for quite a while.

Cheers,

The soul and substance of what customarily ranks as patriotism is moral cowardice and always has been...We have thrown away the most valuable asset we had-- the individual's right to oppose both flag and country when he (just he, by himself) believed them to be in the wrong. We have thrown it away; and with it all that was really respectable about that grotesque and laughable word, Patriotism.

This just in, kid: the mere fact that it's written down and believed in by millions of simpletons does not make something true.
