Of course I tried that. The Mobile P-II is not supported by Intel's frequency ID software and there is no relevant CPU information. Karsten's Linux on a floppy solution was perfect.

The cpu name, model, stepping and speed is static information, burned into the chip at production time...

What operating system was this? I know that W2K reports the CPU speed correctly on everything from a PII-266 up to a PIII800 SpeedStep.
