New ISP resists RIAA subpoenas
[link|http://news.com.com/2100-1027_3-5058107.html?tag=fd_top|http://news.com.com/...7.html?tag=fd_top]
The United States' largest supplier of ADSL broadband connections is challenging the recording industry's current campaign of targeting song-swappers with a lawsuit filed late on Wednesday, charging that the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is violating its customers' right to privacy.

Pacific Bell Internet Services (PBIS), operated by U.S. telecommunications giant SBC Communications, challenged the subpoenas served against it by the RIAA on procedural grounds, arguing that hundreds of them were served improperly. However, the group made it clear that its action was taken in order to protect the privacy of its customers.

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
New I really, really hate when SBC does something like that...

...see, 'coz in just about every other way, they're Pure Evil Monopoly. It's probably the entire phone industry -- I'm currently doing business with the one company (Sprint) who hasn't massively pissed me off. SBC is the chamber of horrors for all things in California, starting with wanting to reneg on the naming of Pac Bell park (rule #1 of sports venues: don't name the damned thing after a company -- you can call it "Foo Venue, Sponsored by Evilcorp", but nothing else...).

\r\n\r\n

And of course, the only reason SBC's doing this is because it knows, having been in the peer-to-peer business for somewhat more than a century, that that's where the real money is. Edison envisioned (enauraled? ...but he was deaf...) the telephone as a system by which symphony orchestras could be piped from a central location into the citizen's parlor. Teen gossip over Britney and Justin...I fear the consider his response to that.... But truth: it's what sells.

\r\n\r\n

Conflictedly: Beaujoulais to SBC!

yes the blablabla needs to be different each time (it is unless you fsckin manually overide it and put your own shyte in it is each and every time)
sev 2 we cant connect to blabla (yes because blabla has never contacted us to even start connectivity testing, we have zero connectivity and dont even know where they are) and by the way can we have 3 daily conference calls to update this issue/ticket.
sev 2 your error meesage is repeatable and testable with 100% accuracy, we need it changed.
