New Thinkpad 600x: Neomagic w/ XF86-v4 UseFBDev: font artifacts
I'm getting [link|http://kmself.home.netcom.com/Images/artifacts.png|font artifacts] on a Thinkpad 600x.

It's got, according to lspci
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Neomagic Corporation [MagicGraph 256ZX]
I'm using the xserver-common (4.1.0-6) driver, with, if it matters, the UseFBDev option set (value="true").

I've found a few references to artifacts under X, but nothing that seems to match my situation closely. Looking for more information.

And your are most emphatically not to inquire about the hostname.

Added the following (bolded) to the "Device" section of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and all is well:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Generic Video Card"
Driver "neomagic"
Option "UseFBDev" "true"
Option "NoAccel" "true"
Option "ShadowFB" "false"

EndSection
