New More like "seat of your pants programming"
There is no top down design, and no inside out design, you are working without a blueprint of any kind and just cranking out code and hope it works when you compile and if not you have to deal with the errors and fix them ASAP. Once you get something workable, it gets sent to QA for testing, QA also is rushed to get the program out into production so they let some flaws and bugs slide by until the next release. It is "Fast Food Programming" fast, but unhealthy.

New Not every building needs an architect
If you were to build a detached garage, you might make some quick sketches, estimate the lumber, and start pounding nails. You don't need blueprints or an architect.

Its a quick an dirty building. If you're building a shopping center, now you need an architect and blue prints because you have a lot of people contributing and you have to coordinate stuff. But nobody ever builds a "quick an dirty" shopping center. Although people throw up quick and dirty out buildings all the time.

Its a question of scale.

Smalltalk is dangerous. It is a drug. My advice to you would be don't try it; it could ruin your life. Once you take the time to learn it (to REALLY learn it) you will see that there is nothing out there (yet) to touch it. Of course, like all drugs, how dangerous it is depends on your character. It may be that once you've got to this stage you'll find it difficult (if not impossible) to "go back" to other languages and, if you are forced to, you might become an embittered character constantly muttering ascerbic comments under your breath. Who knows, you may even have to quit the software industry altogether because nothing else lives up to your new expectations.
