Had for for slightly over a year now and have put 22,500 miles on it. Only issue I have is those !#@$% people that have put dings in my doors even though I always park BFE.

haven't driven the others
but the S2000 review is spot on. This is the first car where I LOVE it when I get stopped(first in line) at a light - the acceleration off the line is so sweet, it's nearly orgasmic.

My only experience with that feeling..
...is on the rare occasion that I get to drive [link|http://www.bepatient.net/acura.jpg|this toy] on extended visits out west.
My Mazda Turbo (wherever she may be now) had amazing off the line stats too...and was a huge amount of fun...but the top didn't come off. The NSX is an entirely different experience with the top off...as I'm sure the S2k is also.

but out of my price range. Honda makes the S2000 at the same plant as the NSX.
Didn't know they make the Insight at the [link|http://world.honda.com/environment/2002report/data/domestic/takanezawa.html|Takanezawa] plant too.

NSX for part-time toy, eh? (Which would be my preference too.. to Owning the Car, its Insurance and The Tickets ;-)
But I note that *my* Acura Plutocrat was made by the same personnel / same assy line as the NSX (from ~'90-'96 for JDM/world versions; '91-'94 for US).
Those who worry about such things (well, some of them) have deemed that the Made-in-Japan cars of this $-niche in the early to mid-90s: just may be the most carefully assembled mass-production cars ever, from any country. Comforting thought for my '94 - and borne out by the regularly 200-250k miles sans repairs beyond maintenance consumables. There are several of my model running around with >300K miles (but it turns out ya gotta use Genuine Honda transmission fluid to do that - a petro chemist has determined that it Is a different formulation from the usual ATF, different VI and er lubricity - something I'd naturally be skeptical about til the lab tests.)
The more I inspect the engine compartment and interior.. I see motorcycle grade attention to minute detail, premium quality materials from the real-wood veneers down to the intricately customized "holders" for practically every wire and hose; the excellent weather-proofed wire-harness connectors and carefully wrapped bundles, etc. And.. I'm Picky. (The NSX has gotta be even more jewelery! At Those Prices)
I just haven't found a single item which looks like an afterthought.. from the aluminum honeycomb sheets which form the floorpan - to the ergonomics of the instrument layout -- and a first-rate stereo system (which just happens to produce a realistic 'staging' for full orchestra - same difficulties as for home systems, and they did it Right).
Anyway.. if that er Western-garaged NSX is in danger of the hydraulic seals dryin out from disuse, I'd be glad to donate a couple hours to exercising things, periodically. Just my contribution to good housekeeping.

It gets frequent use...
...just not by me, unfortunately.
It is well crafted, though. The odd thing about sound system...no CD from the factory. It is a dealer installed option only.
No biggie...I'd rather listen to the engine anyway.

that's impressive. A friend of mine has gotten me interested in bikes. I was going to look at getting one towards the end of the year, but the temp. paycut hasn't been lifted yet and the pinch in income has changed my goal to debt payoff.

How bout this
Roll-on 45/70 in 2.4 seconds in 3rd gear. I've tried it - WHOOSH! Even in 5th, you get 45/70 in 3.7 seconds.

that's 1 G.
F=\ufffdN has its uses, and 'gearing' can allow sorta exceeding 1 G with slicks, burned-in - But.. I'd still want to know how the timing, term. velocity #s were arrived at. That number allows for 0-tire slip and perfect adhesion throughout the run, from the first foot to V=88'/sec.

As long as the angle between the thrust vector and the weight vector stays below the line through the CG and the rear contact patch you can top 1G. (More thrust and you go over, of course.) The tire can slip and still produce more than enough force for that, though I know the numbers were produced by a pro-level rider, so I doubt there was much wheelspin.
As you can infer from what I just said, the numbers were produced by a pro rider. All the bike mags use them.

You are talking about moments around the CG; that's about architecture. I'm talking about the simplest model of friction - which admittedly cannot be strictly applied to the intricate 'gearing' possibilities of certain prepared surfaces (the stationary one and that which is in shear normal to such).
That 'N' *means* 'Normal'! ie perpendicular - and idealized surfaces that do Not 'gear'. (Would Millikan-Roller-Watson lie?)
Anyway it's academic, and I concur - a Pro can elicit such performances, all else working perfectly - and only via a >1.0 value of \ufffd = not a lot different concept from ~ being a bit North of the North Pole.. Significant improvement over that value ==> rocket-type science. ;-)

Not really
To achieve >1G accel, straight-line or radial, all you need is for the contact to support a combined moment angle <45 degrees from the surface. I just tested a stapler on a book on my desk at a >45 degree angle and it stayed. I don't have any studies to point to, but it seems pretty obvious surfaces can provide more than enough friction to hold >1G forces.

Its an odd thing, but I have had times when I have found myself
slowing down when approaching green lights (hoping to get caught by a
chnage to red) and speeding up on the approach to red lights (to make it more likely to need to stop).

Mustang GTs are sloooow.
Too heavy. A nice LX is what I have.
Of course, I've also got headers, no AC, reworked pulleys, cotton air filter, flowmasters, no cats, and a quarter-mile gear in the rear axle... ;-)

I thought the temps looked low too
until I realized it's the average.
Check the extreme temp 90+ column.
Currently it's cooler than normal here. We've been getting rain almost every day for the past couple of weeks.
