New Close but no cigar
don't have the LU6.2 programming in my background. Had a recruiter email me on this middle of last week. Told him I wanted to be presented, but he said that the client was adamant for the LU6.2 stuff.

When they took the Fourth Amendment, I was quiet because I didn't deal drugs.
When they took the Fifth Amendment, I was quiet because I was innocent.
When they took the Second Amendment, I was quiet because I didn't own a gun.
Now they've taken the First Amendment, and I can't say anything about it.

New Wish I could
but I've always been a bad liar - that's why I don't play poker: you know when I'm bluffing. I usually try to stretch the truth a lot, but I always have a foundation of some truth at the base of everything.

New Bill is acusing you...
of not really "wanting" work. "Lie like a dog" means that you're passing up opportunities you could be going after.

Some of that might be "depression related". After you've been out of work a while, you kind of decide that no employer wants you, that you can't really do anything, and you want to stop trying.

But that is exactly when your next opportunity will show up, and if you fight the "urge" to "dirge", then you might, just might find your next gig.

Not all employers are alike. Someone will take a chance on you, eventually.

Also, if you'll show some initiative while you're out of work. (Make a website, do VBScript, do a VB project, etc. ), then the employer will realize that you're not a "lie like a dog" person.

You have fire and initiative and your chances of find a job will improve about 3000 percent.

New Not depressed, just resting
I'd hire him immediately based on this sane behavior.

New Or go for broke and tell the truth
Play to your strengths, but give them an indication that you are willing and able to round out your knowledge in some new areas. In the area of software, you really don't necessarily want someone who has 20 years experience in every facet of the job being applied for. You want some solid foundation to build on, but you also want the job to challenge the applicant in some ways.

I always did better in interviews where I admitted there were some aspects in the job that I'd have to come up to speed on in rapid fashion. Makes the job a challenge for myself, and I come through with a positive attitude. Worst interviews I have is where the work looks easy - a depth of knowledge can scare the person doing the hiring. :-)
