New Oh, yesyes
What a fun game. Fun, fun game.

And the add on that let's you pre-set what things to build, in what order... why can't Civilization do that??? Still???

New Build Queue?
Which version of Civ are you talking about? I assume you are talking about the improvements individual cities can make. The build queue lets you add as many items to build as you want.

New Re: Build Queue?
The build queue lets you queue up to nine in advance, and you have to configure each one separately. Or, you can have them follow whatever your capital city is doing, but that means newer cities start trying to build a Libary instead of starting with the barracks, temple or granary like any self-respecting new city would.

In GalCiv you could say, as a general rule, "all cities must start building everything in this order..." and as new advances were found, you could add to that list without overwriting anything. So you could start with garrison and end with planetary reactor, and have the planets build everything in between, in the correct order. If that feature exists in Civ III, I haven't found it yet...

New Maybe I misremember
I am pretty sure you can create and save different build queues and pick and choose which queue you want to assign to a city. I haven't played it in quite a while though, the memory is a little foggy.

New You can do that in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri...
New If so...
somebody tell me how! That would be great!

New Okay, I just reinstalled it.
Open the "screens" list, select "city", choose "make queue". It's self explanatory from then on.

I'm glad you asked. It'll be fun to compare and contrast Civ vs. GalCiv.

New Which version?
I can't find any of this in Civ III...

New CIV 2 Call to Power
It seems stupid to me to not carry over such a handy feature to the next version.

According to [link|http://www.civ3.com/asktheteam_082201.cfm|this] you should be able to save and load build queues in Civ 3. It doesn't say how to though.

New You can save one queue at a time.
Which is annoying if you're managing cities at different stages of development.

New My bad
I just re-read this thread and finally noticed you mentioned it was CIV 3. Sorry.

New Call to Power unrelated ot other CIV games
The two Call to Power games are actually almost entirly unrelated to the other Civ Games. Goes back to a dispute over who owns the Civilization name. I believe the final agreement was that Sid had the name for future use, but agreed not to stop the then in development Civilization Call To Power.

Notice that the first one was Civilization Call To Power, but the second was Call To Power II. I'm pretty sure that was because Activision couldn't use the Civilization name anymore.
