My new job, well, we've got one of those AS400 thingies. And my new boss is very large into IBM. At any rate, I downloaded the CE of SunOne Studio. At first blush, it looks like what I'm after. I am supposed to eval IBM's tools for Java. As I said above, I used VisualAge for Java 2.0 and found it non-repulsive. However, IBM has seen fit to kill the product. They want you to use their Websphere Development Studio which, at first blush, looks like bloatware gone way beyond bloatware. AND, as with all things IBM, is NONE too cheap. My sense is that 3K for a dev tool may not be too much w/my new employer as it has the IBM moniker attached. But again I ask your opinions (if any). Have any of you used the Websphere Dev Studio? Likes/dislikes? Appropriateness to use to develop GUI Java applications that do NOT talk to Websphere?

TIA!!!!!
