New My son gave me a lesson in algorithms
I told Danny to pick up his toy cars. All 21 of them.

For every car he put on the shelf he would slowly and laborously re-count the cars already there. I told him to remind me later to explain o(n^2) to him, and got a smile in response.

Less Is More. In my book, About Face, I introduce over 50 powerful design axioms. This is one of them.

New Repetition is often good for learning...
as long as they grow out of it. It is funny how many things that we take for granted are brand new to young children. My kids were extremely fascinated watching (their own) poop spiral down the toilet for the first time. I suppose we all study and try just about EVERYTHING at least once before we grow up, even the gross stuff. Gotta remember to keep the electrical outlets covered. If they are anything like me, though, they won't rest until somebody gets really zapped.
