My daughter learned a lot of vocab from TV (her common caretakers, relatives, generally don't speak english).

However, more important may be social development. What kind of social values does it instill?

Intellectual ability is only half the battle. Take it from somebody with toothprints on his foot.

Social development was the most useful function of the schools I attended, I know. One must learn by doing - especially as the PC world of television diverges from reality...
