Um, wow. Half-Life 2.
I figure if you're a hard-core gamer, you've already seen this, but it has to be said:
WOW.
Go [link|http://mostlycloudy.net/~dnl2ba/multimedia/video/Video%20game-related/|here] and download all the Half-Life videos. Let's just say the "eyes" have it...
They say a city in the desert lies/ The vanity of an ancient king/ But the city lies in broken pieces/ Where the wind howls and the vultures sing/ These are the works of man/ This is the sum of our ambition...

re:sickness. I discovered the other day...
...that half-life, for example, has tools to minimize that. You can turn off the head-bobbing, for example. cl_bob 0.

I'm not the only person here with that?
For me Doom was the first one that was good enough to trigger it. But it took a few hours.
Later games trigger it much, much faster. :-(

So instead of killing virtually...
...you want me to go kill in reality. :)
(Actually, I trout fish occasionally with my grandparents. Plan on passing the tradition along to my kids+grandkids, if there are any left.)

Looks stunning, but I'll pass
These kind of quick-reaction-time kill-'em-alls (aka "twitch" games) just don't hold my interest as much as they used to. I much prefer strategy\\tactics games with emphasis on planning and care.
Or maybe it's just that the hand-eye coordination is failing in my old age. :)
